NEWORLEANS - A local group planned to come together with citizens to make a call for unity following the shooting of a 14-year-old boy.

Brothers Against Crime will hold a news conference Monday night in the 700 block of Mandeville Street.

The group will ask the public not to rush to judgement over Friday's shooting of Marshall Coulter.

Merritt Landry, 33, told police Conley had approached him in his front yard. It looked as if the teen went to reach for something when he decided to fire at him, Landry said.

Conley remained in critical condition at the hospital.

Landry was charged with attempted second degree murder.
