NEW ORLEANS -- A local man was charged with making bomb threats to several high-profile targets, including Orleans Parish Criminal Court and Traffic Court, according to Mary BethRomig, a spokesperson for the FBI.

Jahvar Hooks, 30, appeared for before Magistrate Judge Karen Roby Tuesday and was charged with making bomb threats, according to the FBI.

From Aug. 12 through Aug. 19, Hooks made over 40 bomb threats, according to the criminal complaint, targeting the courts, area schools, hotels, casinos and government buildings.
