The community is paying their final respects to a New Orleans police dispatcher killed by a suspected drunk driver.

Paulette Brown was known for helping others, and even in death, she is still giving back to those in need, because her family says she made it clear that she wanted to be an organ donor.

51-year-old Brown worked as an NOPD dispatcher for 32 years, and as she was on her way to work last weekend she was hit by a suspected drunk driver on I610 westbound, and killed.

Brown was taken off of life support late last week and her family says her liver, lungs, heart, and eyes will all be donated.

According to a traffic court report, 28-year-old Andrew Merchant hit Brown head on.

Merchant has since posted bond after being charged with a DWI in addition to other charges.

A memorial fund has been set up in Paulette Brown's honor at any Capital One Bank.

Visitation will be held Monday at St. Leo the Great Church in Gentilly.
