SLIDELL, La. -- The St. Tammany Sheriff's Office is investigating a shooting and an attempted carjacking Sunday, though believed to be unrelated, both happened with hours of one another.

According to the sheriff's office, a man suffered a minor gunshot wound outside of his home on Apache Street. The man walked outside his home after the New Orleans Saints game, when two men wearing masks approached him -- one of whom was armed -- and demanded cash. When the man said he didn't have any money, the armed man shot him.

About three hours later, according to the sheriff's office, a driver was at the intersection of LA 59 and Sharp Road. A man came up to the vehicle, pointed a gun at the driver and ordered him out of the vehicle. The potential carjacker fled on foot when another vehicle approached the intersection.

Authorities believe that the two crimes are unrelated.

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call Detective Walter Matthews at 985-726-7845 and anyone with information about the attempted carjacking is asked to call Detective Randy Loumiet at 985-726-7825.
