ST. TAMMANY, La. -- A Covington man died in a single-vehicle crash Saturday that deputies say may have been the result of drunk driving.

Woodruff Camus, 52, was traveling west on La. 40, west of La. 437 in St. Tammany Parish, at about 4:15 p.m. when he lost control of his vehicle while negotiating a curve. He over-corrected, traveled off the road and struck a guard rail and trees before landing in a creek bed.

Camus wasn't wearing a seat belt, deputies say. He was pronounced dead in the hospital.

Deputies say alcohol use is suspected. They are awaiting for the toxicology report. The official cause of death won't be known until an autopsy is completed.
