BATONROUGE - The memory of WWL-TV personality Frank Davis took center stage at the State Capitol Tuesday as his wife and daughter traveled to Baton Rouge to celebrate a decision by lawmakers to rename the I-10 Twin Spans in his honor.
Frank's wife Mary Clare and daughter Amanda joined lawmakers for a moment of silence to honor the late New Orleans broadcasting legend, who died in December.
A bill to rename the I-10 Twin Spans after Frank is now on its way to Gov.Bobby Jindal's desk. The bill by state Sen. A.G. Crowe, R-Slidell, gained overwhelming support from lawmakers.
'He was adored by everyone he came across and met. He also celebrated things that were unique to New Orleans as he felt it was very special and different from any place in the world. And he reminded everyone it was 'Naturally N'Awlins,'' Crowe said Tuesday, speaking on the floor of the state senate.
With the governor's signature, the Twin Spans will officially become 'The Frank Davis Naturally N'Awlins Memorial Bridge' in honor of the feature reporter/chef/fishing expert who delighted and informed audiences for 30 years on WWL-TV.
