NEW ORLEANS -- A New Orleans police officer is on unpaid suspension after he allegedly drove drunk on the Causeway Bridge this weekend.
The incident happened Saturday at about 9 p.m.
According to the New Orleans Police Department, Causeway Bridge police pulled over 26-year-old David Aranda after they spotted him 'driving erratically' in his personal vehicle.
Police, who smelled alcohol on the officer's breath, placed Aranda under arrest after he failed a standard field sobriety test.
The NOPD announced they put Aranda on emergency suspension without pay Tuesday.
Aranda is a five-year veteran of the NOPD. He was most recently assigned to the Fifth District.
