METAIRIE, La. The Saints continue to mold their roster to their liking, signing veteran tight end John Gilmore, releasing linebacker Ramon Humber to make room.
Gilmore played the past three seasons with Tampa Bay after earning a paycheck in Chicago his first six years in the league. He originally was drafted by the Saints in 2002.
In 2010, he caught 13 passes for a career-high 160 yards and a touchdown. In nine seasons, he has 52 catches for 524 yards and five touchdowns. Gilmore (6-foot-5, 257 pounds) will help out most in blocking.
Meanwhile, the Saints signed three new practice squad players, adding wide receiver Montez Billings, tackle Dennis Landholt and tackle Will Robinson while parting ways with quarterback Sean Canfield, long-snapper Kyle Nelson and center Cecil Newton.
