ST. JOHN A father driving drunk crashed his pickup Friday night, killing his 3-year-old daughter and injuring his 4-year-old son, authorities said.

The 1995 Ford F250 was northbound on La. 308 between Caldwell Plant Road and La. 304 outside Thibodaux at about 9:30 p.m. when the driver, Kevin Vicknair, 25, of Napoleonville, ran off the road and hit a ditch, State Police Lt. Todd Toloudis said. The pickup then drove out of the ditch, spun and flipped at least once, landing on the driver's side in the southbound lane.Natalie Vicknair, 3, was ejected from the pickup and died, police said. Kevin Vicknair and his son, 4-year-old Nathan Vicknair, were taken to Thibodaux Regional Medical Center to be treated for minor injuries.Two child seats were found in the pickup, troopers said, though the children were not properly restrained at the time of the crash.Alcohol is believed to be a factor in the crash, Toloudis said. Blood was drawn while Kevin Vicknair was at the hospital, as required by law in all fatal crashes.Kevin Vicknair is charged with vehicular homicide, vehicular negligent injuring, two counts child restraint violations and improper lane usage. If convicted, he faces more than 30 years in prison, and is being held in the Lafourche Parish jail awaiting a bond hearing.At the crash site, debris was scattered across both lanes of La. 308. The pickup, which was still on its side as of about 10:45 p.m., was smashed on the top, with the windshield shattered and the roof flattened.St. John Volunteer Fire Chief Jamey Fontenot said men had to put down an absorbent to stop the flow of gasoline leaking from the pickup.
