WESTWEGO, La. Hornets shooting guard Eric Gordon says his inability to play due to an injured knee is frustrating for him as well as the franchise.

Gordon, who spoke one day after head coach Monty Williams announced that he would be out 'indefinitely,' said there is no timetable for his return and that his knee is hurting.

Gordon did not participate in preseason games nor did he suit up for the team's opener Wednesday night. He played in only 9 of 65 games last season.

He made a short statement during which he seemed to be saying that he would much rather be playing for the Hornets.

'As a player, I look forward to helping this franchise,' he said. 'It has been frustrating as a player not to be out there everyday.'

Hornets fans seem to be skeptical. They recall during the offseason that Gordon said his heart was in Phoenix after he signed an offer sheet with the Suns.

Gordon said he hoped that his injury situation would have a resolution by the weekend.
