WESTWEGO, La. - Gov. Bobby Jindal's addressed his controversial tax plan, balancing the $25 million state budget and his upcoming legislative session at a West Bank luncheon at the Alario Center.
Jindal says his tax overhaul will save taxpayers $1.8 billion and create 12,000 new jobs.
All proceeds at the benefit Cafe Hope, a job training and life skills program for at-risk youth.
As the luncheon attendees took place inside, a meeting addressing the Crescent City Connection tolls was held outside at the Alario Center.
The StoptheTolls.org team will give an update on it's campaign to defeat the renewal of the toll proposition. The tolls are currently suspended after a judge threw out the results of a vote to extend them.
Residents will get another chance to vote on the issue in May.
