The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development announced Thursday that the monthly bus service used to travel between New Orleans and Baton Rouge, LA Swift, would last until July 31.

DOTD said although local entities have not yet identified funding to subsidize the service, it worked with locals to extend the service for an additional month while they explore options to provide the approximate $750,000 per year in local funds to match a decreased federal fund contribution.

The DOTD announced earlier this month that the LA Swift would cease operations by June 30.
