HOUMA, LA. -- A disagreement over who would watch a child on Shrimpers Row Wednesday morning escalated into a fight involving the child's father, mother, aunt and grandfather, the Terrebonne Sheriff's Office said.
Bret Michael Philips, 23, 5018 Shrimpers Row, was jailed on two counts of simple battery, domestic abuse with a juvenile present and simple criminal damage to property, according to jail records.
Philips is accused of first attacking the child's grandfather, allegedly pushing him to the ground and hitting him.
When the older man's daughters attempted to intervene, Philips grabbed one of them by the throat and pushed the other down in the presence of his 2-year-old daughter, police said.
Philips also is accused of breaking a cellphone when the grandfather attempted to summon help. The responding deputy said Philips' aggression ended when he was threatened with a Taser.
