HARVEY, La. -- A 2-year-old is in the hospital after suffering a superficial gunshot injury to face, according to the Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office.
The child is being treated at the West Bank Oschsner Medical Center.
According to the JPSO, the toddler was getting into a car with his father in the 1600 block of Apache Drive in Harvey. The father said he exchanged eye contact with an unknown man, and then the man across street opened fire, hitting the car door. The bullet then ricocheted hit the child.
The child was not seriously injured, according to the JPSO.
The gunman, who was driving a black Nissan Sentra, remains at large.
