METAIRIE, La. Three players, including a key returning receiver, left the Saints' Black and Gold scrimmage early and didn't return.

Seven others, meanwhile, sat out and didn't participate at all.

Coach Sean Payton did not address any of the injuries, saying he preferred to wait until finding out from athletic trainers exactly what they were before giving updates.

Receiver Joseph Morgan went down on the fourth play and limped off the field with the help of athletic trainers. Morgan is expected to play a part in the Saints' long game this season, his speed an integral part of what he does.

Running back Travaris Cadet had to be helped off the field after getting hit hard during special teams drills while receiver Jarred Fayson left with blood on his hand and didn't return.

Receiver Andy Tanner went down with what appeared to be a shoulder injury after getting hit in a red zone play but he returned.

The others who didn't participate were linebackers Martez Wilson (left elbow) and Ray Shipman (hamstring), defensive end Tom Johnson (hip), quarterback Seneca Wallace (groin) and the three PUP players receiver Marques Colston (foot), linebacker Victor Butler (left knee) and cornerback Patrick Robinson (right knee).
