PONCHATOULA, La. -- The Tangipahoa Sheriff's Office has arrested the man accused of an ATM 'smash and grab' on the Northshore, for a second time, after they say he tried to burglarize a homeowner and hide out in the garage.

According to Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff Daniel Edwards, deputies arrested 22-year-old Akeem Arsenio Hall Banks in the early morning hours of September 20, on multiple charges.

At approximately 2:30 a.m. deputies responded to Dutch Lane in response to a possible burglary in process, and upon arrival, deputies saw an unidentified man fleeing on foot from the residence.

After further investigation, deputies located Banks standing in the corner of the resident's garage.

Banks was asked to leave the residence and he was taken into custody without incident.

Through investigation deputies learned that Banks and his accomplice were in the process of burglarizing the homeowner's vehicle, which was parked inside of the garage, as deputies arrived.

Banks identified his partner-in-crime as 21-year-old Aaron Watkins, and a warrant has been issued for Watkins' arrest.

Banks was charged with burglary of an inhabited dwelling, vehicle burglary, 2 counts of possession of stolen property and criminal damage.

Banks has previously been arrested for the 'smash and grab' robbery of an ATM on Pumpkin Center Road over the summer and the Sheriff's Office expects more charges to be filed against Banks.
