SLIDELL, La. - The St. Tammany Coroner's Office has identified the remains found in Slidell Monday.

According to Coroner Dr. Parmod Menon, the skeletal remains were identified as John Felton Winston Jr., 47, of Slidell, who had been missing for nearly four years.

Winston's remains were found Monday in an abandoned home on West Street, near Bayou Liberty, in the Slidell area.

The sheriff's office said that Winston was reported missing on January 19, 2010. At the time the report said that he had an undisclosed medical condition and was in need of medicine.

Strain said that Winston's family had never stopped looking for him.

The LSU Department of Anthropology will assist the coroner's office to determine the cause and manner of death, which is pending and still under investigation.
