BELLEROSE, La. - A 27-year-old woman died after the vehicle she was driving went off the road and hit a tree in Assumption Parish early Tuesday morning.

According to State Police, Constance Pitts, of Belle Rose, was headed south on LA 308, about a mile south of LA 988, when she went off the road on a curve and slammed into a tree. The vehicle rolled after hitting the tree and came to rest on its roof on LA 308.

Pitts, who was wearing her seatbelt, was pronounced dead on the scene, said State Police.

Alcohol is not suspected to be a factor in the crash, and routine toxicology tests are pending. This crash remains under investigation.
