NEWORLEANS-- Monday we told you about 5-year-old boy Donnie Sharp who was sworn in to be a New Orleans firefighter.

It was always his dream because his grandfather wore the badge for decades.

The fire department granted his wish because he had been battling a terminal cancer of the nerves for more than two years.

Wednesday afternoon, Donnie quietly passed away at Children's Hospital with his parents at his side.

Last week, his church started an online site for donations for his medical bills and funeral. Already people have given $9,000.

If you'd like information on how to donate, click here.
