NEWORLEANS-- As many students are now off from school and looking forward to summer, a name familiar in New Orleans is offering one way to stay off the streets and get on the court.

Rapper Master P is in town coaching for a basketball tournament, but he's also announcing the start of a new youth basketball league. He's calling it Let the Kids Grow New Orleans Basketball League.

Also known as Percy Miller, Master P said the new league will focus on steering kids away from trouble.

'It's about just taking at-risk youth off the street. We're taking boys, we're taking girls, we're trying to do prevention. We don't want these kids to get in trouble go to jail. We want them in the school house. We want them to know the importance of education.'

The new league starts in June.
