The home that has been hanging off of a cliff in Texas, was set on fire today in order to demolish the building and stop it from falling even more into the water below.

The Hill County Emergency Management Coordinator says the owner decided to burn the house after consulting with demolition experts and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.

The house has been condemned and the owners evacuated the property about two weeks ago, and chunks of the cliff, and the home, have been tumbling into the water ever since.

The 4,000-square-foot estate home, worth about a million dollars was a big chunk of the Webbs' retirement nest egg, but their insurance policy likely does not cover earth movement.

But for the couple who owns the home it's far more personal, because that's their house the world is watching.

'You know, that's my life there that we're watching fall off,' said owner Robert Webb.

His wife Denise added, 'Until you see it, sitting with what was your yard, gone, the deck that you used to sit on in a chair and look at the lake. Uh, you know, it's gone.'

The home was set on fire around 11 a.m. Friday morning.
