NEW ORLEANS -- New Orleans police have identified a suspect in a shooting Wednesday night in a busy stretch of the French Quarter.
The shooting happened at about 7:45 p.m. near the intersection of Canal and Bourbon streets.
According to police, a 23-year-old woman was shot in the leg at that location. The injuries are not believed to be life threatening. She hasn't been identified.
NOPD spokesman Officer Frank Robertson said witnesses identified 21-year-old Niya Saranne Harris as the shooter moments after shots range out. They say an argument is believed to be the motive.
