NEW ORLEANS -- A bicyclist who collided with an 18-wheeler Thursday afternoon in the Marigny has died.

The crash happened at about 1:40 p.m. near the intersection of St. Claude and Elysian Fields avenues.

A 52-year-old man was riding his bike westbound on St. Claude Avenue 'when he collided with an 18 wheeler,' said NOPD spokesman Officer Garry Flot.

The driver of the 18-wheeler is a 51-year-old man from Violet. He did not receive a citation, and police did not identify him.

The investigation is ongoing. Toxicology test results are pending, and the victim's identity won't be released until his family is notified.
