NEW ORLEANS -- A 75-year-old man has been arrested for fatally stabbing his long-time, live-in girlfriend in Treme early Sunday morning.

Around 6 a.m., the body of an unidentified 58-year-old woman was found by police officers in a vacant lot in the 1400 block of NorthRobertson Street. The woman had multiple stab wounds to her body and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Around 8 a.m. Sunday, the victim's long-time boyfriend Seabon 'Tom' Gibson was brought in for questioning. Gibson confessed to detectives to killing the woman, according to the New Orleans Police Department.

After confessing, a warrant was secured and Gibson was arrested for second-degree murder. Gibson was previously convicted of attempted second degree murder and simple escape.

The identity of the victim will not be released until her family is notified.
