NEW ORLEANS -- A 19-year-old man pleaded guilty Tuesday to shooting and killing another teenager in 2012, according to the Orleans Parish District Attorney's Office.
The shooting happened March 23, 2012 near the Mahalia Jackson Elementary School campus, located near South Robertson and St. Andrews streets.
According to the district attorney's office, 19-year-old Glenn Metz said he shot Jamal Christian because he didn't like him because they were from different neighborhoods. Metz had known Christian from their time at Booker T. Washington High School, which he dropped out of after the 10th grade.
Per the plea agreement, Metz received the maximum sentence of 40 years in prison.
Metz's accomplice, LaShawn Wells, pleaded guilty last week to manslaughter. As a habitual offender, he received a 30-year sentence.
