NEW ORLEANS -- A man charged in a Garden District carjacking that left a man gravely wounded has now been charged in a series of additional crimes -- including the murder of a UNO student two weeks later.

Byron Johnson and three co-defendants were named in a 12-count indictment Thursday, accused of multiple armed robberies and burglaries on the same day as the carjacking that left Sandy Kaynor in a semi-vegetative state.

Devante Billy and Charles Carter are now charged along with Johnson in that shooting.

All three are also charged in the murder of UNO film student Valan May two weeks later.
