He's only been in the position for a couple of days, but Interim NOPD Superintendent Michael Harrison has already hit the ground running.

From tackling the city's crime issues to complying with a Federal Consent Decree, the 23-year police veteran faces a number of challenges.

Michael Harrison is a 1987 graduate of McDonogh 35, holds a Bachelor's and Master's degree in Criminal Justice, was a Munitions Specialist Sergeant with the Louisiana Air National Guard, then joined the New Orleans Police Department in 1991.

Harrison became a detective in the citywide narcotics unit in 1995, then a Sergeant in the 8th District, before joining the Public Integrity Bureau in 2000.
