Looking to brush up on astrology? Or maybe you want to find out what the stars have in store for you? This is the weekend to do it in New Orleans where hundreds of astrologists have converged.
'Its the soul of America. We've been here before. It's a beautiful city. Two of us are Cancers which means we love food,' joked astrologer Madalyn Hillis-Dineen.
The Massachusetts woman is joining 1500 people from more than 30 countries for the United Astrology Conference. The last time it was held in the Crescent City was back in 1989.
'Its where people can study every aspect of astrology from the very basic to very advanced techniques,' said Hillis-Dineen describing a wide range of workshops and lectures.
Organizers say the conference gives astrologists the chance to meet face-to-face and learn new skills.
Professional astrologer Susie Cox is one of the guest speakers. Cox says she has interpreted over 44,000 astrology charts. Her interest blossoming at a very young age.
'I started drawing pictures of the sky when I was 5 and so this is my calling without a doubt. And I went to the university for astronomy. I have an astronomical background,' added Cox. Curiosity is why New Orleans native Royale Kelly stopped by the conference with two friends on Friday afternoon.
'I think its cool, all those things they say about personality traits. I usually like to read up on some of this stuff,' said the 20-year-old.
'Astrology is all about when something begins. The Saints began on All Saints Day, November 1st, 1966,' said astrologer David Railey.
Being all things New Orleans, WWL-TV had to ask Railey to weigh-in on the upcoming Saints season.
'It's a very resilient, very resourceful, very intense scorpio team,' said Railey, 'Saturn is going to be in scorpio this fall and this winter and that means a character building phase or character building challenge for the whole team.'
The last day of the conference is Tuesday. Organizers say that is when a presidential panel will talk about who the next President of the United States might be.
