HARVEY, La. -- A 32-year-old Harvey man was killed around 10 p.m. Monday night, according to the Jefferson ParishSheriff's Office.

First responding officers located a number of spent shell casings on the ground next to a vehicle that was parked in front of 3721 Longleaf Drive in Harvey. Tuesday morning, JPSO identified the man as Larry Wix.

After conducting a canvass of the area, officers followed a trail of blood leading across the street to an open field in the 2200 block of Alex Kornman Boulevard. It was there that deputies located the body of a man suffering from a gunshot wound.

The victim was pronounced dead on the scene.
