NEWORLEANS-- Two men were arrested for selling nitrous oxide balloons on Frenchmen Street early Thursday.

According to a report from the New Orleans Police Department, around 1 a.m. police detectives were called to the 500 block of Frenchmen Street.

'Upon arrival, detectives located the suspect, who was accepting cash for balloons that he filled with nitrous oxide from a tank,' said a police report. Dale Fitzpatrick, 50, was arrested by officers.

Around 4 a.m., detectives arrested a second man, Grant McDaniel, 31, in the same block of FrenchmenStreet. McDaniel was also selling nitrous oxide, police contend.

Detectives learned Fitzpatrick and Daniel had been working together. They obtained a search warrant for their vehicle and inside found 11 more tanks containing nitrous oxide.

The men were booked with distribution of a dangerous chemical and possession with the intent to distribute a dangerous chemical.
