NEW ORLEANS Police investigators and members of the Independent Police Monitor's office are reenacting the circumstances leading up to the fatal shooting of an unarmed man inside a Gentilly home last month.
The walk-through of the Prentiss Avenue home, where Wendell Allen, 20, was shot and killed, is the latest step in the investigation into his death at the hands of Officer Joshua Colclough.He was one of several officers reportedly inside the home at the time of the shooting, which followed a police raid for marijuana.Allen was not identified as a target of the raid, but was one of eight people inside the home at the time.
Lon Burns, the attorney for Allen's family, helped arrange Tuesday's re-enactment with members of the police monitor Susan Hutson's staff.
Supporters stood in front of Wendell Allen's home before the re-enactment of NOPD officer-involved shooting that killed Allen.
Leaders of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference also said that Allen's mother had requested members of their group be present on Tuesday during the investigation.
