ST. JOHN, La. -- Louisiana State Police say deputies shot and killed two suspects Tuesday night in St. John Parish, according to a spokeswoman.

Trooper Melissa Matey, a spokeswoman for Louisiana State Police, said the shooting began after St. John deputies responded to a call of service around 6:20 p.m. at a trailer park in the 100 block of Stevens Drive in Reserve.

Matey said deputies were not injured in this incident.

The suspects, a man and a woman, reportedly died in the hospital.

Officials say the suspects were armed.

Louisiana State Police haven't said what sparked the shooting, as the incident is still under investigation.

State police say it's not related to an officer-involved shooting in St. John Parish a few weeks ago.
