NEW ORLEANS Six more cars have been pulled from Bayou St. John, none matching the one driven by the missing JeffersonParish school teacher missing since earlyMarch.
At least two of the vehicles pulled Tuesday were cars that had been reported stolen. None, however, matched the two-door black Honda driven by Terrilynn Monette.
Tuesday, diver and salvage crews were back on Bayou St. John for another day of pulling submerged vehicles out of the water searching for Monette's car. Monette last was seen turning from Harrison Avenue to Marconi Drive in City Park on a traffic camera around 5 a.m. on March 2
In the past few months crews have pulled nearly 20 vehicles out of the water. Tuesday morning.
State Rep. Austin Badon has been spearheading the search. Monette, however, is not the only missing person in Louisiana, he pointed out.
'Surprisingly, there are hundreds of people in Louisiana that go missing every year,' Badon said. 'I got some numbers from the state police. There's probably 500 people within Louisiana that have gone missing since records have been kept. There's over 200 in the greater metropolitan area.'
Crews are hoping to remove another 6-to-7 vehicles Tuesday afternoon.
