NEWORLEANS-- Police arrested two people for hiring someone to kill a man in eastern New Orleans.

Charity Nguyen, 35, and Khoi Quang Hoang, 35, were arrested for their roles in the murder of Lien Nguyen, 44, who was the boyfriend of Charity Nguyen before he was fatally shot on April 23 in the 4200 block of McCoy Street, according to New Orleans police.

'Detective Gregory Hamilton was able to develop the pair as suspects through citizen involvement. Both Nguyen and Hoang solicited a man to murder Lien Nguyen for possible financial gain,' Officer Frank Robertson, a spokesman for the NOPD, said.

According to police, Lien Nguyen was abducted from his home in the 4800 block of Sandalwood Street. When police responded to reports of gunfire on McCoy Street, they found Lien Nguyen lying on the ground with gunshot wounds to his head and chest. His hands were tied behind his back.

A suspect was seen on a traffic camera video fleeing in a gray-colored Nissan Titan pick-up truck with tinted windows. It was fleeing down McCoy Street to Darby Street, then north on Darby to Old Gentilly Road.

Charity Nguyen was booked into Central Lock-Up and charged with principal to second-degree murder, and Quang Hoang was charged with solicitation for murder, according to police.

This investigation is still ongoing, according to police, and the shooter remains at-large.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crimestoppers at 504-822-1111.
