PEARL RIVER COUNTY, Miss. - 'I don't sleep much without dreaming, hoping he will show up,' said Rechelle Gardner.
Life has been that way for Gardner since July 2012, when her younger brother, 34-year-old Louis Kathmann, went missing.Police say they found his car along Holden Road, near Poplarville, where he was last seen visiting a friend's home.Investigators searched the area extensively, and even interviewed persons of interest, but the case has gone nowhere and authorities say they can't rule out foul play.
Pearl River County Sheriff's Office Chief Deputy Shane Tucker said, 'We just haven't had a lot of valuable information we could use in order to locate him.'
Hillsdale is where Kathmann moved to after years of owning his own business and working with a tow truck company in New Orleans.Family members say he went there after a bad accident that left him disabled. That's when they say, his life took a negative turn.
'He got addicted to the medication that they gave him and it pretty much went downhill from there,' said Gardner.
But it hasn't stopped family or authorities from doing all they can to warm up the case. They have extended their reach into Washington Parish, where Kathmann was known to frequent Bogalusa, and are even hoping for help from New Orleans, where he's from.
Tucker said, 'We're trying to reach out, spread a broader net if you will, to try to get individuals that may know him or have seen or heard something about him since he's gone missing or even at the time he went missing.'
His sister just wants something to change in the case.
'I'm hoping somebody will find him, or at least, I need a body.I need something.'
Crimestoppers is offering a $1,000 reward for any information that leads to the discovery of Louis Kathmann.Tips can be sent in anonymously to 601-799-CLUE (2583) or to the Pearl River County Sheriff's Office at 601-795-2241.
