GRAND ISLE, La. Crews have successfully attached a clamp on a broken water line to Grand Isle, a temporary fix that helped restore service to the island before noon Wednesday.
Officials said the line was flushed and put back in service, though they'll continue to pump and fill storage tanks.
Plans call for the line to be shut down Thursday for crews to permanently fix the line, which was ruptured by a boat Tuesday. Officials believe there is enough water in storage to meet demand while the line is out of service for Thursday's fix.
Additionally, officials said a barge has been filled with water in Lafitte and will be ready to use as a backup if needed.
