BELLE ROSE, La. An Assumption Parish woman was arrested for stabbing her 21-year-old boyfriend twice after an argument Monday afternoon, authorities said.
Gwendolyn Simon, 26, was charged with one count of aggravated second degree battery, a felony.
According to Sheriff Mike Waguespack, officers responded to a complaint about a stabbing and upon arriving at the house in the 160 block of Virginia Street, they found a man stabbed in his back and chest.
The man, whose name wasn't disclosed by the Assumption Parish Sheriff's Department, was taken by Acadian Air Med to a Baton Rouge hospital, where he is in stable condition.
Waguespack said detectives returned to the house to interview Simon, who told them she had left the house earlier in the day and upon returning, began to argue with her boyfriend who accused her of cheating on him.
She told detectives she was scared of her boyfriend and grabbed a long knife, stabbing him eventually, the sheriff said.
When she saw blood coming from her boyfriend's mouth, she was worried that he was badly hurt and called 911, Waguespack said.
