A New Orleans police officer who was previously suspended after being booked with forcible rape was indicted Thursday on additional sex crimes spanning nearly three decades.

Desmond Pratt Sr., a longtime homicide detective, was indicted on one count of sexual battery of a 15-year-old in 2001 and one count of carnal knowledge of a juvenile in 1997 or 1998, on top of the previous charge stemming from an April 2013 complaint.

Pratt's bail on the new charges was set at $300,000. The 15-year veteran officer, who previously was released on a $50,000 bond and suspended from the NOPD, must now surrender to authorities to answer to the new charges.

As a condition of his previous bond, Pratt, 43, has been monitored by an electronic ankle bracelet.

As a homicide detective, Pratt, 43, was assigned to some of the city's highest profile murder cases, including several fatal shootings connected to now-convicted killer Telly Hankton. At the time of his April arrest, Pratt was assigned to the Sixth Police District as a patrol officer.

Pratt's attorney, Robert Jenkins, did not return calls for comment.
