NEW ORLEANS A 16-year-old boy was arrested by NOPD early Thursday morning and charged in the shooting death of another 16-year-old boy in the Desire neighborhood.

According the police, the victim was shot once in the shoulder in a residence in the 3600 block of Kimi O'Gray Avenue at about 8 p.m. Wednesday.

The teenager in custody was taken to the juvenile bureau and booked with second-degree murder.

According to NOPD spokesman Officer Frank Robertson, the victim, who won't be identified until his family is notified, was found on top of a staircase and pronounced dead at the scene.

A total of four teenagers were at the home when the victim and the shooter began 'rough-housing,' police said. Eventually, the shooter retrieved a gun and shot and killed the 16-year-old, police said.
