NEW ORLEANS The popular LSU Tiger Marching Band will make a return appearance to this year's Rex parade, the krewe and school officials announced Wednesday
The Golden Band from Tiger Land will also be joined by the Golden Girls and Color Guard.
LSU last appeared in the Rex parade in2008, fresh off of the football team's BCS Championship win that year. While this year's championship game results didn't go the way most fans would have liked, the band will still be a popular addition to the Rex lineup.
The LSU band is scheduled to appear just after the fourth float in the parade, the Boeuf Gras.It will also lead the way for the krewe's new signature float, the Butterfly King.
Other bands marching in Rex this year include the Tulane University Band and University of Florida Gator Guard, as well as local school bands from Warren Easton, Xavier Prep, Salmen, Central Lafourche, De La Salle and East St. John.
Longtime parade participants, the Marine Forces Reserve Band, the Citadel Sumerall Guards and the Ross Volunteers of Texas A&M, will also appear in the parade when it rolls on Fat Tuesday.
