PLAQUEMINES PARISH, La. -- An autopsy report confirmed two people found in the kitchen of a Braithwaite home did drown, according to the Plaquemines Parish Coroner's Office.

The identity of the two people has yet to be released. The Plaquemines Parish coroner is waiting for out of town family to officially identify two killed in Braithwaite flood.

The bodies of a man and a woman were found inside of a home in the hard-hit town of Braithwaite Thursday evening, according to Parish President Billy Nungesser.

Deputies went out to search for the couple after someone went to a shelter and said that the man and woman had apparently not escaped the flooding that swamped Braithwaite.
