NEW ORLEANS -- The Circle Food Store on St. Bernard Avenue is getting ready to re-open.
After sustaining damage in Hurricane Katrina, the owner of the long-time grocery store struggled to get it renovated. He initially thought it would take $4 million to get it back open, but it ended up costing double that.
A fresh food initiative organized and funded by the City of NewOrleans allowed the owner to get it done.
'Yeah. I got discouraged,' said Dwayne Boudreaux. 'Yeah, I almost leased it out. I talked to a couple of people, had some of the chains show up and wanted to lease it, and even wanted to buy it, but I just held on.
The Circle Food Store is expected to re-open on Friday.
