SLIDELL, La. -- A one-vehicle crash on the Northshore left a 19-year-old Pearl River man dead Sunday morning.

The accident happened at about 1:30 a.m. on US 190 Business eastbound near I-10 in Slidell.

Brandon Taylor Grubbs-Harwell, 19, was speeding on the interstate and passing two vehicles when he lost control and ran off the road and hit a utility pole, said Greg Marchand, a spokesman for Louisiana State Police.

Grubbs-Harwell was pronounced dead in the hospital.

Marchand said while he was driving at a 'high rate of speed,' alcohol is not a suspected factor in the crash. He was wearing his seat belt.
