NEW ORLEANS -- The New Orleans Police Department is searching for a missing 14-year-old girl who has been diagnosed as a paranoid schizophrenic and bipolar.

Police said Taja Reaux told a family member Sunday she had run away from her home and wasn't going to come back. After Taja told the family member she wasn't coming back, she fled on foot.

She was last seen at a family's house in the 2200 block of Springbrook Lane around 7:40 p.m. Police said the family hasn't seen or heard from her since.

Police also said she's a habitual runaway, but according to her guardian, Taja has been taking her medicine as prescribed, and she will need to take it again.

Taja was last seen wearing a tank top and a pair of shorts, though the color isn't known. She is described as being 5 foot 6 inches, 190 pounds, with brown complexion and a short hair style.

If you have any information regarding her whereabouts, please contact Crime Stoppers at 504-822-1111.
