WASHINGTONPARISH, La. -- The sheriff's office arrested a 24-year-old man for two separate rapes -- one stemming from an alleged incident on June 20 and another from a 2011 cold case -- according to Chief Mike Haley.

Billy Crain Jr. was arrested on two counts of forcible rape, according to the sheriff's office.

On June 20, deputies were called to Riverside Medical Center. A woman was at the hospital seeking medical attention from an alleged rape. 'The victim stated that she was raped in a rural area of the parish and then abandoned, forcing her to walk twenty minutes to the nearest residence,' Haley said.

Crain was later identified as a suspect, and authorities learned he was the suspect in a 2011 rape of a juvenile female, according to the sheriff's office.

'After his arrest, Crain stated he was innocent of the rapes and requested a polygraph examination. Major Thomas Mitchell, of the Rayburn Correctional Center, administered the polygraph. Afterwards, Crain confessed to both rapes,' Haley said.

Crain remains in the jail with bond set at $151,050 for two counts of forcible rape and assorted misdemeanors, according to the sheriff's office.
