NEW ORLEANS -- New Orleans police have arrested a man in connection with the Fat Tuesday murder of a man in the Seventh Ward.

NOPD spokeswoman Remi Braden said detectives believe 24-year-old Devin Waterhouse shot and killed Kiran Harrison, 22, on Feb. 12 at about 6:15 p.m. in the 1800 block of Laharpe Street.

Waterhouse has been in custody since Sept. 20, when he reported to the Weekend Warriors program, which allows inmates to spread out their sentence, reporting on Fridays and leaving on Sundays.

Braden said detectives were able to gather enough evidence to charge Waterhouse in the Fat Tuesday murder.

Waterhouse has previous arrests for illegal carrying of a weapon, possession of a firearm with an obliterated serial number, battery and disturbing the peace.
