NEWORLEANS -- The luck of the Irish has brought great weather for the handful of parades this weekend to celebrate all things Irish, for St. Patty's Day, and Italian, for St. Joseph's Day.

On Saturday afternoon, the

Irish Channel St. Patrick's Day Club

will hold its 62nd Annual Mass and Parade. The parade starts right after a Mass, which is at noon at St. Mary's Assumption Church on the corner of Constance & Josephine Streets. The parade starts at 1 p.m., from the corner of Felicity and Magazine.

At 6 p.m. Saturday, the Downtown Irish Club Parade will roll from Burgundy and Piety Streets through the French Quarter. It proceeds up Royal, across Esplanade to Decatur, up Bienville to Bourbon St. It also makes several stops at watering holes along the way.

On Sunday, the 40th annual Irish-Italian Parade rolls down Veterans Blvd. in Metairie at noon.It features several marching groups, bands, and floats carrying riders throwing cabbages and other vegetables.

On the north shore Sunday, the Olde Towne Slidell St. Pat's Parade rolls at 1 p.m. through Olde Towne.There will also be a celebration in Heritage Park following the Slidell parade. The special Bayou Jam concert featuring The Topcats begins at 5:30 p.m. and admission is free.

Also on Sunday, the Irish-Italian parade rolls in Houma at 1 p.m.
