CHALMETTE, La. St. Bernard Parish deputies are searching for a man who on Sunday tried to lure a juvenile teenage girl into his car near Torres Park in Chalmette.

The suspect reportedly drove up to a girl around 5 p.m. near the duck lagoon in Torres Park. He called to the girl and asked her to get in his vehicle, but after the girl called for her nearby mother, the man fled.

The mother and the daughter got in their vehicle and tried to follow the man, but were unable to catch up.

The man is described as Hispanic and in his 40s or early 50s. He had a scar on the left side of his nose and face, and he spoke in a heavy Spanish accent and had a medium build, with brushed back hair.

He was driving a smaller model white SUV, with no window tint and factory style wheels. The license plate reportedly began with WP followed by what the victim believed to be four numbers.

If you know the identity of the man, call Crimestoppers at 822-1111 or (504) 271-2501.
