NEW ORLEANS -- The community will get a chance to pay their respects to a beloved and well known educator in Orleans Parish, Elliot Willard. He died Monday from pancreatic cancer.

Friday, Willard's body will lie in state in the chapel at St. Augustine High School, where he served as a principal, from 12 p.m. until 4 p.m.

Willard, 'Doc' as he was known, was a former coach, teacher and principal who served six years on the Orleans Parish School board.

A public ceremony is being held Friday from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at St. Raymond-St. Leo the Great Catholic Church. His funeral will be held Saturday at 11 a.m.
