NEW ORLEANS -- The Orleans Parish School Board was expected to make a decision Tuesday night on whether to nullify the contracts of two high-ranking employees, but instead voted to review their contracts.

At its monthly meeting the board only voted to review interim Superintendent Stan Smith's contract, not nullify it.

Also discussed was the contract of Lathleen Padian, deputy superintendent for charter schools.

But no decision was made to the dismay of board president Ira Thomas.

A key tax-credit item that would provide about $2 million toward construction of a new school in Treme was taken off the agenda, but will be discussed at a special meeting on Thursday.
